Smithtown Slammers U13 Girls Soccer

Smithtown Flash

Flash & Roar #GoGold

Care. Wear. Share.
Smithtown’s U13 girls soccer, along with the Town of Smithtown, is joining forces with Solving Kids’ Cancer for the month of September.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and is globally represented by the color gold. The Roar and the Flash have swapped out our soccer laces for gold laces and we are raising funds to show support for kids fighting cancer and for critical childhood cancer research. And when you donate on this page — you will receive a free pair of gold laces too!

The average age of a child diagnosed with cancer is 6 years old however childhood cancers are diagnosed in all ages, from newborn infants to young adults. One in five children diagnosed with cancer in the United States will not survive. For the ones who do, the battle is never over. Because of the treatments they had as kids, more than 99% of childhood cancer survivors have chronic health problems and 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions. By the time they’re 50 years old, survivors of childhood cancer experience about five severe or life-threatening chronic health conditions on average. Globally, cancer style 11.5 million years of healthy life away from children in 2017. This total could be lower if all children received adequate care. Childhood cancer research is consistently underfunded. Less than 4% of the federal budget for cancer research in the United States of America is dedicated to Childhood Cancer.

Please help the Flash and Roar support Solving Kids’ Cancer by making a donation to this important fundraiser and share this page with your family and friends. Every dollar raised will help Solving Kids’ Cancer find, fund, and advocate for breakthrough treatment options to cure children with the most fatal childhood cancers.

Thank you so much!
